Achieving Global Goals by Taking Local Action
At Lubrizol we believe that people are our greatest natural resource. Our team is committed to providing a safe and inclusive workplace and enriching the communities where we work and live. That is why we have aligned our People goals with UNSDGs 4 and 8, which recognize the power of living, working and growing together as a community.
Our People Goal to continually improve worker safety aligns with UNSDG 8 and demonstrates our commitment to decent working conditions for all employees:
Keeping Each Other Safe: 30% reduction in work place injuries in 2018.
Our People Goal for community engagement aligns with UNSDG 4 and empowers the rich diversity of our organization to positively impact education in our hometowns in ways that matter most locally.
Engaging our Communities: 7000 annual employee volunteer hours in the communities where we live.
See how we are Achieving Global Goals by Taking Local Action:
Lubrizol’s pharmaceutical research and manufacturing team at Particle Sciences, Inc. participates in many activities that support its local community in Bethlehem, Pa. Recently PSI completed a donation drive to support Camelot for Children, a summer camp for children with chronic and terminal illnesses in its hometown. Every day PSI helps customers to deliver innovative, lifesaving pharmaceuticals. Local community outreach with those who may someday use those lifesaving drugs not only helps the community, but reminds the team why they do what they do.
The team Belford Roxo, Brazil provides opportunities for underprivileged children in the community to grow through sports and the arts. Since 2009 the team has supported Projeto Fluir, a project at Belford Roxo University. With donations of time and resources from Lubrizol, Projeto Fluir has provided sports equipment, coaches and a place to play to local kids ages 8 -15. Thought the Playing with the Arts program, the team provides young people ages 10-13 with the opportunity to learn about and participate in Brazilian culture.
Our Lewisville team has partnered with Communities In Schools (CIS) of North Texas to mentor students at risk of leaving school before completion. CIS is the nations largest school dropout prevention program. The goal is to help students overcome barriers, stay in school, and ultimately graduate. In the “Lunch with a Leader” program students are matched with a volunteer mentor whom they meet each month to have lunch and discuss topics including: the importance of education, goal setting, positive role models, and dealing with lifes daily stressors. Employees across all Lewisville departments from production to the leadership team are proud to participate in the program. This project truly has a positive effect not only on the students, but the volunteers as well. Each month they look forward to meeting with their students and seeing them grow in this program.
