These committees work together to plant and produce various botanicals, including medicinal plants, cedar, stevia, and, of course, lapacho, for the purpose of economic and social empowerment of small producers, especially women, in the region. This joint venture is supported by a United Nations fund specifically designed to support female entrepreneurs and the proceeds go directly to funding plant seedlings and tools for farming. These funds also help to purchase baby lapacho plants as part of a reforestation plan, which not only benefits the local environment but also helps to sustain employment for these women in the future.
