Intro: Lubrizol Personal & Home Care innovation would not be possible without our brilliant scientists and researchers. This is the latest in a series of profiles of the men and women behind our products.
Scientist: Ramon Subiros
Title: Technical Supervisor R&D Synthesis Department, Lipotec™ Active Ingredients
Years with Lubrizol: 3
Location: Barcelona, Spain
Education: Doctoral degree in organic chemistry from the University of Barcelona and two postdoctoral appointments: one in protein synthesis at Humboldt University of Berlin and the second in fluorogenic probes for imaging of cellular events at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
Years of experience: 15
Focus: Ramon focuses on the design of peptide libraries for active cosmetic ingredients and develops green chemistry processes. He is currently exploring the potential application of peptides as functional ingredients and for use in areas other than beauty for Lubrizol Life Science.
Recent accomplishments: He was an integral part of the development of the Xpozuki™ biotech ingredient that fights the consequences of daily exposure to the exposome. This is the first product in a new line of ingredients focused on obtaining active peptides from natural raw materials, enhancing sustainability efforts and opening new avenues in the design of peptide actives. Ramon was involved in all aspects, including discovery, sourcing, development and analysis.
Quote: What impressed me the most when I joined Lipotec™ Active Ingredients team was the close connection between all R&D departments. In academia there is occasional collaboration with partners to achieve multidisciplinary projects, but I had never seen such a teamwork mentality and it is exciting to be part of this approach toward work.
